Potcake Paradise: An expat experience on Green Turtle Cay, Abaco in The Bahamas out islands.
Like other island communities, many folks name their homes on Green Turtle Cay. Potcake Paradise is a dream becoming reality. We’ve purchased land in the Coco Bay area and plan to build Potcake Paradise. We’re excited to share our experiences with you as we purchase land, build our permanent residence on the island, and make GTC our home.
Our lot is the green oval on the top-down shot. The beach access is overgrown right now, but even without that…we’re 200 steps from the beach! Let’s do this!

We Tour the Albert Lowe Museum on Green Turtle Cay, Bahamas
In 1975, artist and Green Turtle Cay native Alton Lowe purchased a 150-year old Loyalist home in New Plymouth – one of the few to survive the devastating 1932 hurricane – and spent more than a year restoring the structure.
Staying at John Lowe House
Mat was able to stay at the John Lowe house with an NGO on the island building a home lost in Hurricane Dorian.
Green Turtle is Open!
If there is one thing for sure on Green Turtle Cay, that’s the fact that the island is open for business! Don’t miss one of our previous posts with the restaurant map. We did a ride through New Plymouth on New Year’s Day (2022) and photographed many of the businesses.
